Our wines
Tuscany, a land of extraordinary beauty where the climate is suited to the cultivation of the earth in all its variation.
Montaione is located in the heart of Tuscany in an area rich in nutrients that has ideal climatic conditions for the cultivation of vines that give us the opportunity to have grapes with great potential to achieve. In such a setting there is Piè di Costa.
The calcareous soil, sometimes slightly clayey, the rolling hills, the "perfect exposure", but also the climate, let us have a unique terroir. All these natural elements, in addition to the centuries-old winemaking tradition and the relationship with our land will give us the opportunity to produce high quality wines.
Our farm covers an area of 12 hectares of which 3 of vineyards, (2/3 Chianti and 1/3 white grapes) at an altitude ranging between 200 and 270 meters above sea level. Vineyards situated on the sides of hills exposed to the sun, are rooted in a geologically unique soil that achieves excellent quality grapes. Among the varieties that characterize these crops excels Sangiovese but also Colorino, Trebbiano and Malvasia typical Tuscan grapes.
After the harvest done entirely by hand between mid-September to early October, the grapes arrive at the Cantina Sociale Colli Fiorentini, where, using modern devices for winemaking in respect to the Tuscan tradition, begins the meticulous control of production to achieve the finished product.
From this synergy among the fruits of the earth and the fruits of a wise man's work our wines are born each year.
Our desire and primary goal is to produce wines that are a clear expression of the territory and our passion for viticulture. We hope to create wines that reflect our heritage and the natural expression of a wine region with personality and intensity, but also in respect to the typical Tuscan grapes.
Even today, every harvest is for us an unique experience that lives in each wine of Piè di Costa and reminds us that the goal of our job is the excellence that can be achieved with simplicity and passion.
